Dr Rohan Jagtap

Dr. Rohan Jagtap is the Director of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Care Planning and Restorative Sciences at the School of Dentistry. He also holds a dual appointment in the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, USA. Dr. Jagtap received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from MGV’s KBH Dental College & Hospital in Nashik, India. He earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry, Jackson, Mississippi, and completed his Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Additionally, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology residency at the prestigious University of Florida College of Dentistry.

Dr. Jagtap has authored or co-authored numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals and has delivered scientific presentations at both national and international forums. Throughout his career, he has mentored multiple students, residents, and PhD students. Dr. Jagtap holds positions on editorial boards and serves as a reviewer for several high-impact peer-reviewed journals. He has been honored with invitations to serve as a guest speaker at several national and international conferences. Recently, he was invited as a chairperson and distinguished speaker at the Metal-Ions 2023 conference organized by the Government of India.

Dr. Jagtap is a world-renowned clinician and researcher in the field of artificial intelligence. He has made significant contributions to the field of Artificial Intelligence and has published numerous articles. Furthermore, he played a leading role in the sections of AI in oral medicine/pathology, endodontics, and radiology and diagnostic images for the American Dental Association’s white paper, Dental Informatics. He has also served on FDA panels for multiple AI companies. Additionally, he serves as an editor for the book titled 'Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry,' published by Springer. It is the most comprehensive and valued resource available worldwide.

He is widely recognized as a national leader in the field of Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Jagtap served as the Chair of the American Dental Education Association Radiology Section, and currently, he is the President-elect of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. In 2025, he will assume the role of President. He has served on multiple committees and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the American Dental Education Association, and the American Association of Endodontists, among others.

Dr. Jagtap also works with the United States Department of Defense to provide critical dental care to U.S. service members in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.

For his extraordinary work and international recognition, he has received honorary fellowships from national and international organizations such as the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of Dentistry International, and American College of Dentists. Dr. Jagtap currently serves as the only specialist at the medical center and within the state of Mississippi.
